Ana and Ed McCracken Engineering Scholarship - Incoming Freshmen

Recipients shall be enrolled in one of the following departments in the College of Engineering: Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering or majoring in the interdisciplinary software engineering program. Recipients shall have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients shall have a high level of financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid, and may not otherwise be able to attend Iowa State University if it weren’t for scholarship assistance. Recipients shall be residents of the State of Iowa or the State of Illinois as permitted by Federal and State law, and University policy. When possible, the selection of recipients shall alternate between students from the State of Iowa and students from the State of Illinois. Recipients shall have demonstrated leadership attributes and an entrepreneurial attitude during their freshman year at the University as determined by the administering authority. Applicants shall submit a brief essay (no more than two pages) highlighting their leadership and entrepreneurial aspirations and experiences. First preference shall be given to students who are members of the Triangle fraternity as determined by the administering authority. Second preference shall be given to minority students. All awards shall be for one (1) year and may be renewed for up to three (3) additional years at the discretion of the administering authority so long as recipients continue to meet the above stated criteria. This award shall be made available to students of sophomore, junior, senior and 5th year senior class standing. Upon acceptance of this scholarship, recipients shall be required to submit a report at the end of the fall semester and the end of the spring semester to be shared with the Donor. E. Administration: The Donors would like to continue providing four (4) annual scholarships of $10,000 each for one sophomore, junior, senior and 5th year senior student during their lifetimes. All recipients receiving this scholarship as of the date of this Revised Agreement will continue to be renewed so long as they meet the criteria stated in the original agreement. It is the Donor’s intent that only one (1) new recipient will be added each year. This Revised Agreement shall be effective starting with the 2017-2018 school year. Should a student elect to participate in an internship (or coop) for one (1) semester, their funding will be carried forward to the next semester. Should a student become ineligible due to no longer meeting the criteria stated above, or in the original agreement for current recipients, the College of Engineering will identify a student of the same class standing to receive the award.
