Harold “Pop” Pride Scholarship
Colonel Harold “Pop” Pride was instrumental in the planning, fundraising, and building of the Iowa State University Memorial Union. Also known as “Mr. Memorial Union”, he became the first Managing Director of the Memorial Union in 1927 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1959. He maintained an active interest in the Memorial Union until he passed away in 1988. Recipients of the Colonel Harold “Pop” Pride scholarship shall be current Iowa State students with a preference for students currently employed at the Memorial Union and/or with demonstrated financial need.
