Dr. Patrick Kain and Miss Maribel Kain Family Memorial Scholarship

Recipients shall be majoring in animal ecology or forestry in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management, microbiology in the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, or biology or genetics in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology. Recipients shall have an incoming minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.33 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients shall have demonstrated leadership as evidenced through volunteer efforts, participation in extracurricular or community organizations and activities. First preference shall be given to students who have verified financial need. Second preference shall be given to students who are residents of the State of Iowa as permitted by Federal and State law, and University policy. This award shall be made available to incoming freshman students. This scholarship may be renewed so long as recipients continue to meet stated criteria.
