Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology (BBMB): Currently Enrolled Students

Current undergraduates in the Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology (BBMB) who would like to be considered for departmental scholarships should apply to this opportunity. You must be majoring in Biochemistry (CALS or LAS) to be eligible for these scholarships. By answering the questions in this opportunity, BBMB students will be automatically considered for most BBMB department scholarships (see exceptions below).

Students wishing to be considered for the following scholarships need to complete these separate steps:
(1) Viola Vorhies NIA Research Award: Complete the BBMB Opportunity. In addition, submit contact information for a faculty research mentor who has agreed to provide a letter of support on your behalf.
(2) Linder Family Undergraduate Research Fellowships: This Fellowship is not administered through OneApp. Complete application according to instructions on BBMB Undergraduate Scholarships & Awards website (https://www.bbmb.iastate.edu/bbmb-student-scholarship-opportunities).
(3) Ana and Ed McCracken Research Fellowship: This opportunity is not administered through OneApp, but does require application to the OneApp Iowa State and BBMB Opportunities. Complete OneApp Iowa State and BBMB applications and contact Claire Kruesel (kruesel@iastate.edu), BBMB Undergraduate Program Coordinator, for further instructions.
(4) Rob Stupka Memorial Scholarship (Fall nomination) or Rob Stupka Leadership Award (Spring nomination): These awards are not administered through OneApp. Speak with Claire Kruesel (kruesel@iastate.edu), BBMB Undergraduate Program Coordinator.

    Students receiving scholarships/awards from the BBMB Department must be majoring in biochemistry. BBMB Scholarship/Award recipients agree to notify the department immediately if they switch out of the department.

  9. Reference
    All continuing-student applicants for BBMB departmental scholarships must provide a reference who is willing to provide a letter of support. This is the location to provide the name and email address of your reference.

    Specific requirements:
    (1) This reference should be a teacher/faculty member who can speak to your academic ability in biochemistry, chemistry, and mathematics.
    (2) If you are applying for a research award, your reference should be from the faculty member overseeing your research.

    Please speak to your reference ahead of time so they are prepared to upload the letter of support by the reference deadline.
