Wahrer-Gifford Opportunity Scholarship

1. Recipients shall have faced challenges of personal and/or financial hardship and possess the potential to succeed, as determined by the administering authority.
2. Recipients shall have graduated from one of the Des Moines Public School high schools.
3. Recipients shall have a high level of financial need, as documented by the University Office of Student Financial Aid.
4. First preference shall be given to students with demonstrated academic success in high school, as determined by the administering authority.
5. Second preference shall be given to students who through their experiences, activities, and academic work will contribute to student body diversity, as determined by the administering authority and as permitted by Federal and State law and University policy.
This award shall be made available to students of incoming freshman class standing.
