Molly Ann Schmerbach Scholarship for Women in Civil Engineering

Recipients shall be majoring in Civil Engineering in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering. Recipients shall be female as permitted by Federal and State law, and University policy. Recipients shall have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients shall have verified financial need, as documented by the University Office of Student Financial Aid. First preference shall be given to students who are transfer or returning students. Second preference shall be given to Students who are working to put themselves through college or students who have participated in a three (3) month co-op or plan to participate in a three (3) month co-op during the scholarship year. If it is determined that there are no qualified students majoring in civil engineering, the scholarship shall be awarded first to a qualified student majoring in construction engineering, and finally to a qualified student majoring in environmental engineering. All awards shall be for one (1) year but may be renewed for one (1) additional year at the discretion of the administering authority so long as recipients continue to meet the above stated criteria. This award shall be made available to undergraduate students of sophomore, junior or senior class standing, with preference given to transfer or returning students.

The Donors would like one (1) scholarship in the amount of $1,000 awarded each year while the endowment is being funded. Once the endowment is fully funded the Donors would like these scholarships to be of significant benefit to the recipients and ask that fewer, larger scholarships be awarded each year.
