James M. Hoover Memorial Scholarship Fund

The recipient shall be accepted to or enrolled in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need. The recipient shall demonstrate a minimum GPA of 2.2 on a 4.0 scale. Preference shall go to applicants with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering, as determined by the awarding authority. This scholarship shall be made available to students of junior, senior, or graduate class standing, who are making satisfactory progress toward their degree, as determined by the awarding authority. The recipient shall receive the scholarship only once.

The Donors would like these scholarships to have a significant impact for the recipients and would initially like no more than two (2) scholarships awarded each year. Additional scholarships may be awarded as the Distributions increase over time. If in any given year there are no qualified recipients and scholarships are not awarded, the Distributions shall be reinvested into the endowment. After the lifetimes of the Donors, the Foundation shall provide annual reports to the children of the Donors, Sarah J. Hoover and Joel D. Hoover, so long as contact information is maintained with the Foundation.
