George B. and Gertrude M. Hartman Forestry Fund

Fund Description:
Per paragraphs 2,3 and 6 of the Agreement dated 01/02/1980:

2. This fund is created for the primary purpose of providing student travel awards. Students receiving such awards are to be selected by the Recognition and Awards Committee of the Department of Forestry and the Chairman of the Department of Forestry. Monetary amounts for these awards will also be designated by the Awards Committee and the department chairman.

3. Recognizing the importance of discretionary funds to the management of an academic department, a secondary purpose of this fund is to provide unrestricted resources to the Department of Forestry. At the sole discretion of the department chairman, earned annual income from the Hartman Endowment Fund, in part or in its entirety, may be used to benefit any of the academic programs of the department, or for faculty improvement. Such use may be made of these funds if, and only if, their importance in this regard superseded the need for travel awards, and only if funds for such use are not available from any other source.

6. Award recipients must have:

a) Enthusiasm for the profession for forestry and loyalty to the Department of Forestry.
b) Good, but not necessarily highest, academic record.
c) Sincere interest in representing the Department of Forestry student body in a professional manner.
