Bestmann Family Scholarship in Engineering

Recipients shall be enrolled in the College of Engineering. Recipients shall have graduated from a high school located in Marshall County, Iowa as permitted by Federal and State law, and University policy. Preference shall be given to the children of Emerson-Fisher employees as determined by the administering authority. All awards shall be for one (1) year and may be renewed at the discretion of the administering authority so long as recipients continue to meet the above stated criteria. This award shall be made available to students of sophomore, junior, senior and 5th year senior class standing.

Application process: Jay Bestmann, the successor trustee, would like these scholarships to be of significant benefit to the recipients and asks that fewer, larger scholarships be awarded, rather than many small scholarships. Applicants will complete a short essay. The College of Engineering Scholarship Office shall select up to twelve (12) applicant essays, based on available earnings, to submit to Jay Bestmann or his designee. Jay Bestmann will provide feedback to the College of Engineering for final selection. Jay Bestmann may request that this application process be continued with other members of the Bestmann family so long as contact information is provided to the College of Engineering and the Foundation.
