Dr. Pearl Hogrefe Creative Writing Fund
Undergraduate recipients shall take at least one (1) creative writing course per semester, although recipients do not have to be majoring in English. Recipients must show promise in creative writing through a portfolio review by the administering authority. Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate financial need. Please complete the questions as per your current classification level.

- The English Department’s Pearl Hogrefe Creative Writing Fund awards scholarships to students who exhibit outstanding originality and potential, an imaginative use of form and language, and show evidence of having promise in creative writing. Junior and senior applicants must show evidence of having produced a significant body of creative writing.
List the Creative Writing Courses you have taken/are taking. This is a requirement for this scholarship. - Upload your creative writing portfolio including short stories, a collection of poems, screenplay or play excerpt, or nonfiction essay (mixed genre submissions are acceptable) that meet the length requirement below. Do not use special characters or spaces when naming your document.

Current ISU first-year students: up to 3,000 words
Current ISU sophomore students: up to 5,000 words
Current ISU junior students: up to 6,000 words
Current ISU senior students: up to 7,000 words - Provide the name of one Creative Writing Faculty member who could serve as a reference. This is a requirement for this scholarship.
