Dr. Gary and Jannes (Teply) Weede Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Technology

Recipients shall be majoring in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Manufacturing in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. Recipients shall have verified financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Recipients shall have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients shall be citizens of the United States as permitted by Federal and State law and University policy. Recipients shall have demonstrated leadership skills through high school and college as evidenced by participation in extra-curricular activities, part-time jobs, community volunteering and leadership activities as well as exhibit potential through exceptional enthusiasm in the classroom as determined by the administering authority. First preference shall be given to first generation college students. Second preference shall be given to students exhibiting a strong desire to pursue employment in the plastics industry as demonstrated by being an active member of the ISU Society of Plastics Engineers, Student Chapter. All awards shall be for one (1) year and may be renewed for two (2) additional years at the discretion of the administering authority so long as recipients continue to meet the above stated criteria. This award shall be made available to students of sophomore, junior and senior class standing. Application: Students shall submit an original essay of not more than 500 words conveying his or her philosophy of education and life along with two letters of recommendation. The selection committee will share the recipient’s essay with the Donors, Dr. Gary D. and Jannes (Teply) Weede, upon granting of the scholarship.
