Recipients shall be members of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, as determined by the administering authority. Recipients shall have a strong performance record with a high probability of commissioning, as determined by the administering authority. Recipients shall have verified financial need, as documented by the University Office of Student Financial Aid. Recipients shall demonstrate exemplary leadership skills, as determined by the administering authority and as evidenced by their active participation in extracurricular activities which involves directing actions, holding office, chairing committees, and/or receipt of awards. Examples of extracurricular activities include involvement in recognized student organizations, professional organizations, or community service. First preference shall be given to students with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. Second preference shall be given to female students as permitted by Federal and State law and University policy. This award shall be made available to students of undergraduate class standing.
