  1. Being part of a community that empowers people who are underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics means supporting others, valuing differences, persisting, advocating for yourself and others, and accepting challenges.   2. The Program for Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) supports and empowers students, so they persist and thrive in their science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) majors at Iowa State University. Describe how you have been involved in WiSE or other groups that focus on developing a community that supports and empowers students in STEM majors.
  3. Some of the scholarships awarded through the Program for Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) require that students have demonstrated financial need.
